About the WWETB

Before July 2013, 33 Vocational Educational Committees (VECs) were the umbrella and oversight of educational institutions and establishments, however were replaced by 16 Education and Training Boards (ETBs). These ETBs are subject to and governed by the Education and Training Boards Act (2013). The ETBs act and function as standalone units with their own corporate structure. One of these Boards is the Waterford and Wexford ETB.

Shortly after the creation and implementation of these ETBs, the Minister for Education and Skills at the times, RuairĂ Quinn T.D., made an official announcement that all seven SOLAS training centers would be transferred to the Education and Training boards. In July of 2014, the Waterford and Wexford ETB welcomed and joined forces with the Waterford and Wexford Training Centre. This was formerly one of the SOLAS training centre. This centre was a welcomed addition to their range of offerings and services.

Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) is an educational institution that provides a wide and impressive range of education and training services to the region of Waterford and Wexford.

The WWETBs offerings include second level schools, further education colleges, adult and further education programs and schools, Post Leaving Certificate Courses (PLCs), Youth outreach centers, Outdoor education and Youth Services. Each one of these programs and offerings has the learner/student in mind and have been developed to help ensure that each student absorbs as much relevant information as possible to help set students up for success.
